Participants in this course will be introduced to the basic principles of rope/vertical rescue and to the basic equipment used to implement rope/vertical rescues. The basic skills required to rig, descend, stop, and get out of common problems are presented, demonstrated, and practiced. Students will become proficient at these basic skills. Starting at the basics, you will be guided through the how’s and why’s of small gas engines such as chainsaws and tune-ups of both two and four cycle engines, with an emphasis on air-cooled overhead valve small engines. During the hands-on portion, you will be able to bring in your own equipment and troubleshoot and repair it to your satisfaction. The instructor will oversee and guide you in your work. Repairs can consist of anything from minor tune-ups to complete overhauls. Class size limited to 20.
