Basic Rigging for Rope Rescue – Group A/C
Participants in this 16-hour course will be introduced to rope, rope hardware, patient packaging, and basic haul systems; which can be used in various aspects of rescue. The intent of this course is to provide rope and basic rigging experience for anyone interested in rope rescue. Students will receive a PA State Fire Academy Certificate.

- Characteristics and Care of Rope
- Rope Gear and Hardware
- Knots and Hitches
- Patient Packaging/Stokes Tie-In
- Stokes Basket Handling
- Introduction to Haul Systems, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1
FIELD EXERCISES
- Demonstrate Lowering Systems and Switching to Haul Systems
- Practice Haul and Lower Systems
- Demonstrate and Practice Anchor Systems, Lower, and Haul Systems as related to Confined Space
- Practice all above
- Low Angle Stokes Basket Obstacle Course using Haul and Lower Techniques
- Class Wrap Up and Student Evaluation
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Personnel that in their job duties are members of Confined Space Rescue Teams, Post Fall Rescue Teams or
any other team that would require this type of training. Course meets/exceeds all consensus requirements under NFPA 1006 in preparation for the ProBoard Practical Evaluation
