Forged Camp Knife – April (20SG)

This is a more advance follow-up to the basic Bladesmithing course. The how’s and why’s, including heat treating and other aspects of knife making will be covered. You will forge slightly larger knives that can be used for many outdoor chores around home and camp. You will also fit your knives with high quality wood handles. Students will use a power hammer, hydraulic press, milling machines, bandsaw, drill press and belt grinders. The two-day class allows to go more in depth in the heat treating as well as other aspects of knife making. All safety and PPE will be provided.

This class is taught by Andrew Takach. On the popular TV show, Forged in Fire (season 4, episode 13), Andrew competed and ultimately won with his Shamshir sword. Several photos of his work have been published in books and magazines, including Knives Annual, Knife World, and Blade magazine.

Active USW employees only

Two (2) sessions, Saturday and Sunday. Lunch will be provided.
