Forged Damascus Blade (24SG)

On the first day of class, students will start by going over some basic techniques and materials and then weld a few billets of Damascus from high-quality carbon steel. Then, students will forge a blade from their Damascus billet and heat treat it. On day two, students will be using a power hammer, hydraulic press, milling machine, bandsaw, drill press, and belt grinders.

This class is taught by Andrew Takach. On the popular TV show, Forged in Fire (season 4, episode 13), Andrew competed and ultimately won with his Shamshir sword. Several photos of his work have been published in books and magazines, including Knives Annual, Knife World, and Blade magazine.
