Rope/High Angle Rescue Level 2 – Group B/D
Participants in this course will be re-introduced to the principles of rope/vertical rescue and to the basic equipment used to implement rope/vertical rescues. The basic skills required to rig, haul, lower, ascend, descend, stop, and get out of common problems are presented, demonstrated, and practiced. Students will become proficient at these basic skills. Students will receive a PA State Fire Academy Certificate

- Knot Review
- Int roduction to Haul Systems
- Show 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1
- Prussiks vs Gibbs Ascenders
FIELD EXERCISES
- Half of Class – Refresh stokes tie-in, Stokes Handling
- Half of Class – Build basic haul systems; 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, w/Safeties
- Entire Class – Basic Rappelling and Belaying, Tie-0ffs
- Half of Class – Basic Ascending – Sit-Stand w/mechanicals and with 2 and 3 Knot Prussiks
- Half of Class – Alternate Rappel Devices
- Practice Rappelling and Belays
- One-Person Rescue
- Rope Changes
- Low Angle Stokes Evolution using Raise and Lower Techniques
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Personnel that in their job duties are members of Confined Space Rescue Teams, Post Fall Rescue Teams or any other team that would require this type of training. Course meets/exceeds all consensus requirements under NFPA 1006 in preparation for the ProBoard Practical Evaluation
