For those who have taken the Bladesmithing Workshop, bring out the knife you made in your first class and you will have the chance to create a hand-stitched leather sheath for it. Or, make a sheath for a knife at home. All Safety and PPE will be provided. This class is taught by Andrew Takach. On the popular TV show, Forged in Fire (season 4, episode 13), Andrew competed and ultimately won with his Shamshir sword. Starting with the basics, learn the how’s and why’s of small gas engines, two (2) and four (4) cycle engines, and air-cooled overhead valve small engines. During the hands-on portion, you will be able to bring in your own equipment, troubleshoot and repair it to your satisfaction. The instructor will oversee and guide you in your work. Repairs can consist of anything from minor tune-ups to complete overhauls. Acquire entry level operation and skills training in the proper techniques, safe operation, and general maintenance of residential construction equipment; Backhoe, Mini Excavator, Excavator, and Track Loader. Course projects include layout and excavation of footers/building foundations, pool installation, working around utility pipe, slope ditches and trenches. This class is cancelled due to low enrollment. Lecture and demonstrations by instructor and practice by students in basic oxyacetylene and arc welding. Safe and correct methods of assembly and operation of welding equipment along with use of pedestal and hand grinders. Supervised hands-on application in flame cutting, gas and arc welding in flat, horizontal and vertical positions with emphasis on lab techniques and safety. PPE is required.
