Beekeeping – Into the Hives Workshop (18SG)

First year beekeepers will get into the hives with instructor Scott Benack at Morris Farm! Learn safe practices inspecting beehives and how to identify conditions affecting hive activity. Live demonstrations and hands-on tasks strengthen the student’s skills in queen identification, recognizing mite infestation and treatment, and lighting a smoker. Additional instruction in splitting hives, making food, and feeding practices will be offered.

Mr. Benack is a licensed nuc seller and queen breeder, a live removal expert, and currently assists Morris Farm in yearly pollination efforts.

Proper personal protection is required, including long pants, long sleeve shirts, and boots.  Disposable gloves will be provided and veils will be available to use or you may bring your own bee suit/ veil.

Class limited to 15.  Spouses and retirees will be permitted as space allows.
