This course covers the basic principles of forge welding and pattern development. Students will weld up several bars of Damascus in basic patterns (ladder, twist, random, etc.) and each student will go home with at least 1 bars of Damascus, from which they can make jewelry or knives. This class is taught by Andrew Takach. On the popular TV show, Forged in Fire (season 4, episode 13), Andrew competed and ultimately won with his Shamshir sword. Starting with the basics, learn the how’s and why’s of small gas engines, two (2) and four (4) cycle engines, and air-cooled overhead valve small engines. During the hands-on portion, you will be able to bring in your own equipment, troubleshoot and repair it to your satisfaction. The instructor will oversee and guide you in your work. Repairs can consist of anything from minor tune-ups to complete overhauls.
